Work out safely to avoid aches, injuries or sprains.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been exercising for years and years, or you’ve just started, it’s super important to look after yourself and your body to avoid injury.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when training to try and help you avoid injury:

  • Warm up and cool down
It’s so important to get your body effectively warmed up before you start training to ensure your body temperature rises and the increased blood flow reaches your muscles. Similarly, it’s important to cool down to regulate your heart rate and blood flow. Incorporating targeted exercises and stretches before and after exercise can and will make a world of difference to your training and your body’s recovery.
  • Correct form
Correct form is key to training, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice. If you’re ever unsure or something doesn’t feel right - seek out a professional’s help! They’ll be able to give you the tips and tricks to adjust your positioning, grip, posture or pace to get you back on track.
  • Using the right equipment
It doesn’t matter what exercise you’re doing, whether it’s dance, boxing, weightlifting, or cycling, having the correct equipment can be the difference between you reaching your goals, or experiencing injury. This is especially key in boxing as the correct equipment, such as boxing gloves, protects your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders and has a ripple effect to the rest of your body. Outboxd’s Women’s Geo Gloves are the perfect protective glove for all of your boxing needs.
  • Listen to your body
Your body is going to tell you everything you need to know - if you’re feeling fatigued, you should definitely listen closely as you can seriously injure yourself in times of extreme tiredness. In cases such as this, there’s modifications you can make to still train, such as doing less intense training, training for shorter periods or using lighter weights or resistance. Otherwise, there’s nothing wrong with taking a break day to let yourself and your body recuperate.
