Beginning a regular exercise routine can be daunting at first, but kick-starting and maintaining this in your life has more benefits that just improvements to your physical health. The positive effect of exercise on your mental health has been proven by research. 


Below is a list of our favourite positive impacts that exercise has on our overall wellbeing.


  • Improving brain function: exercise has been known to immediately improve your concentration, memory, productivity and ability to recall. This study details all of the wonderful ways that our brain function improves during and after exercise.
  • Stress Relief: Studies have shown that getting exercise into your day is not only a really great way to reduce stress, but is also known to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. This doesn’t have to be anything intensive - it can be as simple as breaking your day up by going for a quick 15-minute walk to stretch your legs.
  • Energy boost: it’s a common misconception that boxing will deplete your energy - in fact, the opposite is true and it actually boosts your energy by getting your heart rate going and blood flowing through your body.
  • Endorphin release: working out releases endorphins - your feel-good hormone. By getting regular movement in your day and weeks, and having regular endorphin releases, you’re increasing the levels of this hormone in your body and building your confidence up day-by-day.
  • Promoting other healthy habits: when you consistently dedicate time to exercise and ticking off goals, you will be motivated to continue to keep this pattern up in other areas of your life, for example looking into your nutrition. It gives you a sense of fulfillment and pride being able to see the fruit of your labour and keep this up in other areas as well.
